Pricing Questions, Answered Honestly

Is GST included in your pricing?

Yes. Every price we agree with you before work starts already includes GST, so nothing extra gets tacked on afterwards. We confirm it on-site once we've seen the job, and that same amount is what shows up on your invoice, no separate line for tax.

How is fair, upfront pricing different from a standard quote?

A standard quote can shift once a tradesperson opens the wall or gets under the sink and finds something worse. Our upfront pricing means we look at the actual problem first, then agree a fair figure with you before any tools come out. If the scope changes partway through, we stop, explain what we've found, and get your approval first.

How does the $65 off my first service offer work?

New customers get $65 taken off the cost of their first job with us, applied once the work is confirmed and priced on the day. There's no catch and no minimum spend hidden in the fine print, it simply comes off your total. It's our way of saying thanks for trying a local team you haven't used before.

How do you decide what a fair price is for emergency work?

We price the job in front of us, not the hour on the clock, so calling us at 2am doesn't inflate the number. Our plumbers assess what's actually broken, price it against the same fair standard we use in daylight hours, and talk you through it before starting. Best Price Guaranteed backs that up on every call-out.

Licensing Questions, Answered

Do I need a licensed plumber for emergency repairs?

Yes, and it matters more in an emergency, not less. Gas work, hot water systems and most drainage repairs are legally required to be carried out by a licensed plumber in NSW. Every plumber we send out holds NSW Plumbing Licence #292427C, so the fix that goes in at midnight meets the same standard as one done at midday.

Is unlicensed plumbing work legal in NSW?

No. Plumbing work and gas fitting jobs must be carried out, or directly supervised, by someone holding the right NSW licence, and gas work specifically needs a licensed gasfitter. Unlicensed work can void your insurance, fail inspection, and in a gas job, be genuinely dangerous for whoever's in the house.

Is it safe to try a DIY fix before you arrive?

For small things, sometimes. Turning off the water at the mains, or putting a bucket under a slow drip, won't make things worse. But anything involving gas, or forcing a blocked pipe, can turn a manageable job into a bigger one fast. If you're not sure, leave it and let us assess it when we get there.

What should I do first if I smell gas?

Leave the property straight away and call from outside, or from a neighbour's if you can. Don't try to locate the leak yourself, and don't flick light switches on your way out. Once you're safely clear, call us and we'll talk you through the next step and get a licensed plumber out to make it safe.

How Our Response Works

Do you work weekends and public holidays?

Yes, every day of the year, including weekends and public holidays. Plumbing emergencies don't check a calendar, so neither do we. Same-day service applies whichever day you call, and the price you're quoted doesn't change just because it's a Sunday or Christmas Day.

What happens after I call?

A real person talks you through what's going on and asks a few quick questions about the problem. From there we get a plumber moving, and once on-site we explain what's wrong in plain terms and agree a fair price before any work begins. You're kept in the loop the whole way through.

Do you answer the phone overnight?

Yes, someone picks up around the clock, including the middle of the night. Burst pipes and gas leaks don't clock off at 5pm, so neither does our phone line. Open 24 hours means exactly that, a real conversation with someone who can get a plumber moving, whatever time it is.

Can I request a specific time window?

We'll always give you a realistic idea of when to expect us, based on where our plumbers are working that day, and call ahead as we get close. We can't promise an exact hour, especially during a run of emergencies, but we won't leave you guessing either. You'll get an update, not silence.

Plumbing in Homebush

Do you know Homebush's streets well enough to find properties fast?

We work this side of Sydney regularly, from the heritage streets around the old Village to the newer builds north of the line. Knowing these streets, from Arnotts Reserve through to the stretch backing onto the Powells Creek corridor, helps us find a driveway or a rear unit quickly, which matters when something's flooding.

What should new Homebush homeowners know about the area's plumbing?

If you're in one of the older homes around the Village, it's worth knowing original clay drains and ageing gas fittings are common there. Worth getting them checked before the cooler months rather than waiting for a failure. Newer apartments north of the line lean more on flexi-hose connections, a common cause of sudden leaks if a fitting perishes.

Do Homebush's older terraces still have galvanised supply pipes?

Some do, particularly in the Federation-era streets south of the railway where original plumbing was never fully replaced. Galvanised pipe corrodes from the inside over decades, narrowing the bore and eventually failing without much warning. If your hot water pressure has dropped off, or a pipe's let go unexpectedly, ageing galvanised supply is often the reason why.

Does salt air affect hot water units in Homebush?

Not really. Homebush sits well inland with no coastal exposure, so salt air isn't the reason here. What wears hot water units out locally is simple age. A lot of the long-held period homes run their systems well past the point they should've been replaced, and that's the more common cause of a sudden failure.
